It's just so weird to say it but I find that both WNO and WNC, while mercilessly dressing down the inherent violence of racism and fascism, show a much more humanistic (and/or sympathetic, or at least not contemptuous) view for those who were afraid to fight back and also show people can be part of the problem while still being victims of that problem (Rip is a great example the man clearly cares about Zofia and BJ deep down but his racist upbringing and surrounding culture twist his affection into something he didn't want.) Yes, evil flourishes when good men do nothing, but it doesn't blame people for being afraid to be a good man, because being afraid of a group that has the intention and the means to come after not just you but other people you care about is natural and ordinary. I find Sigrun fascinating on paper she's a pretty simple character but she ends up with an arc that serves a lot of different purposes.
